I would say eating its young, but I feel you. Canibals, eating people’s working lives. People my son’s age will not be able to buy houses unless they have families that can help them. It’s killing us.

I love reading about how organized religion has fed us so much patriarchal stuff -- brainwashing. This is the first I've ever known where all the bunnies come from on this Christian holiday. It was only recently that I learned the myth of crucifixion/execution of a spiritual leader with his/her subsequent resurrection is based on myths (Egyptian, Hindu?, etc.) a lot older than the Jesus story. That said--I believe everyone has the right to believe whatever religion they want to believe, as long as separation of church and state continues (?) to be recognized.

He’s a dying and rising god who was killed by a boar. I think it was anemones that sprang up from the drops of his blood.

Couldn’t agree more. The savior who dies and is reborn is much older than Jesus. Many of the hallmarks of his story pre-date him as essential elements. The virgin birth is only one example. There are many beautiful, devotional ways to approach that archetype. The lust for political power isn’t one of them, though. When I finish working with the Inanna myth, a female death and rebirth savior, I’ll write about some of them.

Was it Adonis who sacrificed himself for/with or because of Aphrodite? His blood becoming violets? His priests self-castrating? Do I remember that correctly?

In the imaginal realm

Tangents are country roads

They take us off the highways

We can walk river beds.

Keep flinging it out there.

You reply to me in poetry. You had me at “imaginal realms.” I’m putty.
